Caption
The Uttewalder Grund is a partially narrow and deeply incised gorge in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, in the municipality of Lohmen, north of Stadt Wehlen. At one point there is a rock gate formed by rocks that have fallen down and then become stuck. This is located in the northern part of the gorge, which is called Schleifgrund. This is one of Caspar David Friedrich's motifs, which he painted around 1801 in Saxon Switzerland, Uttewalde, Saxony, Germany
