The French President Marie François Sadi Carnot (1837–1894) in his magnificently furnished study. Sadi Carnot was a French politician and civil engineer. He served as President of the Third French Republic from December 1887 until his assassination in June 1894. The study reflects the stately historicist style of the late 19th century. In the background, one can see floor-to-ceiling bookshelves from a library, ornate wall panelling with reliefs, and a heavy crystal chandelier – a reproduction of a 19th-century original. Authentic, file restored for optimal use, exact date of the original unknown, nostalgically coloured
