Caption

Walkenried Abbey is a former Cistercian abbey in Walkenried, situated on the southern edge of the Harz Mountains near the border triangle of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. The building complex includes the ruins of the abbey church and the largely preserved Gothic cloister building. This was converted into the Walkenried Monastery Cistercian Museum in 2006. Since 2010, the monastery complex has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Rammelsberg Mine, Goslar Old Town and Upper Harz Water Management Site, Walkenried Monastery, Walkenried, Lower Saxony, Germany
