Bayan-Ölgii, Mongolia. The berkutchi are traditional eagle hunters who train Golden Eagle to hunt foxes and other small animals across the Altai Mountains. This ancient nomadic practice, passed down through generations, is both a means of winter survival and a strong symbol of Kazakh cultural identity in western Mongolia. Today, girls and women also have the opportunity to become eagle hunters, continuing and renewing this centuries-old tradition
