The map shows the constellations of the southern hemisphere as they were known in classical antiquity. Despite the title, it also contains several newly identified stars introduced around 1612 by cartographer Petrus Plancius, digitally restored reproduction from a 17th century model, authentic, exact date of depiction unknown
