Pius IX (born 13 May 1792 to 7 February 1878) was the 255th pope from 1846 to 1878. At 31 years and 8 months, his pontificate was the longest that can be documented and included the proclamation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the First Vatican Council with the propagation of papal primacy of jurisdiction and papal infallibility as well as the loss of the Papal States to the Kingdom of Italy, Historical, Reproduction of a model with a scene from the 19th century
