Interior of Kalmar Castle: The Royal Chamber became a bedroom for Erik XIV around 1560. The frieze with hunting motifs is from the time of Johan III in 1572-1573. Kalmar, Småland, Sweden, Scandinavia. Kalmar Castle was build in the 12th century. It was here that the Kalmar Union was signed in 1397. During the 16th century and the time of the Vasa kings the castle acquired its current design
