Jeffrey City, Wyoming - A Home on the Range sign on a cabin. Originally named 'Home on the Range, ' the town was renamed Jeffrey City in 1957 honor of a wealthy backer of the uranium mine and made it a boom town. Uranium mining ended in the early 80s and Jeffrey City quickly lost 95 percent of its population
