While shooting for my coffee table book on Costa Rica's natural wonders, I needed a shot that captured the essence of the famed Monteverde cloud forest. That's a tall order of course. I took a number of photos in the area but this one, actually taken in the nearby Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve which is a local community-run refuge, was the one that most said Monteverde to me. The sunlight breaking through the misty cloud forest and the tree ferns, palms, bromeliads and mosses encapsulated what Monteverde is all about to me
