Loy Krathong (or Loi Krathong) is a festival celebrated annually throughout Thailand and certain parts of Laos during the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional lunar calendar.

Sukhothai, which literally means 'Dawn of Happiness', was the capital of the Sukhothai Kingdom and was founded in 1238. It was the capital of the Thai Empire for approximately 140 years
