Baltzar von Platen. 1898-1984. Swedish inventor who togethere with inventor Carl Munters invented the gas absorption refrigerator for domestic use in 1922. Their cooling solution was a world sensation, even Albert Einstein once mentioned how astonished he was by their ingenious solution. The new invention was a few years later aquired by Electrolux who began selling the refrigerators worldwide. Platen was also the mastermind behind the process of producing synthtic diamonds using heat and pressure. Munters invented and patented a method of making foamed plastic. At the time of his death, Munters had over a thousand patents. The picture is taken in their experimental laboraty at the company Electrolux 1925, the men in white lab coates, Platen to the left
