BERLIN, Germany - November 2024: Sweeney Todd (The Demon Barber of Fleet Street) - A musical thriller (1979) in a co-production with the Opéra national du Rhin with music by Stephen Sondheim in a production by Barrie Kosky based on the play of the same name by Christopher Bond. Sweeney Todd, an innocent barber, is falsely arrested and loses his woman and daughter. After years of imprisonment, he returns to London to take revenge on those responsible. Together with the baker Mrs Lovett, he murders his customers and turns their meat into pies, which she sells in her shop. Their murderous partnership unleashes a bloody vicious circle that ultimately leads to tragic consequences for everyone involved.
