Photos, candles, grave lights and flowers for the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who died in an Arctic penal colony on 16 February 2024, have been placed on the fence of the closed Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Frankfurt am Main for days. Navalny was a Russian lawyer, anti-corruption activist, dissident and opposition politician. In 2020, he was the victim of a life-threatening poison attack. Politically persecuted and imprisoned from 2021, he was sentenced to many years in prison.
