The Plates from the Second Book of the De Humani Corporis Fabrica by Andreas Vesalius, (1514-1564) Plates 40 - Although these muscles are represented at the letters C, D, and E, in the third muscle plate, we have placed here a special figure of them in which A indicates the first muscle of the eyelids and with b and C their origin, and D its insinuation into the second muscle the beginning of which is denoted by e. The mutual junction of the two muscles is signified by F.
