Charles Bradlaugh (1833-1891) English politician, free-thinker and social reformer, born Hoxton, London. Lectured under the name 'Iconoclast'. Elected Member of Parliament for Northampton in 1880, he refused to take the oath of alliegance and was expelled from the House. Re-elected and rejected until 1886 when he finally took the oath. Engraving from "TheI llustrated London News" (London,11 February 1882).
