Peak Cavern, Castleton, Derbyshire, England, also called the Peak Hole or the Devil's Arse, a cave in the Peak District limestone with the largest cave entrance in Britain. 'Manner of Passing the Second River in the Peak Hole' 18th century gentleman tourists being shown the wonders of the cave, carried across the river by locals while guides light the way with candles. Etching by Isaac Cruikshank (c1764-1811) after the drawing by the English caricaturist George Montard Woodward (c1760-1809) published 1797.
