Peak Cavern, Castleton, Derbyshire, England, also called the Peak Hole or the Devil's Arse, a cave in the Peak District limestone with the largest cave entrance in Britain. 'Manner of crossing the first River in the Peak Hole' 18th century gentleman tourists being shown the wonders of the cave by guides with candles. Etching by Isaac Cruikshank (c1764-1811) after the drawing by the English caricaturist George Montard Woodward (c1760-1809) published 1797.
