John Allsebrook Simon, lst Viscount Simon (1873-1954), English lawyer and Liberal politician who, as a Member of Parliament, held the offices of Home Secretary, Foreign Secretary, and Chancellor of the Exchequer. From 1927-1931 he chaired the Simon Commission on India's constitution. Until created Viscount Simon in 1940, he was known as Sir John Simon.
