George Lansbury (1859-1940) British Labour (socialist) politician, born in Halesworth, Suffolk. A campaigner for women's suffrage and a founder of the "Daily Herald" which became the Labour party's official newspaper. Labour Member of Parliament (1922-1940). Grandfather of the actress Angela Lansbury.
