Titus Salt (1803-1876) English industrialist. Woolstapler of Bradford, Yorkshire, c1880. Discovered method of manufacturing alpaca cloth. Builder of Saltaire, model town based around his textile factory. Salt was a teetotaler, so no public house was allowed in Saltaire, but Church, houses, shops and social facilites were available to his employees.
