This animal is the 'Ratty' of the children's classic "The Wind in the Willows", Kenneth Grahame, (London, 1908) From "British Quadrupeds", W MacGillivray, (Edinburgh, 1828), one of the volumes in William Jardine's Naturalist's Library series. Hand-coloured engraving.
