(Stephanus Johannes) Paulus Kruger (1825-1904) known as Oom Paul. South African politician. In 2nd Boer War (1899-1900), Kruger was too old and unwell to cope with guerrilla warfare and found refuge in Holland. Homage to Kruger from 'Le Petit Journal', Paris, 2 December 1900
