Werner Magnus Maximilian Freihier von Braun (1912-1977) German scientist involved in his country's rocket programme. After the Second World War he took US nationality. He became Director of NASA and is regarded as the father of the US space programme. Von Braun in 1960 when Director of the Marshall Space Flight Centre, in discussion with Dr Helmut Hoelzer and Dr Eberhard Rees, his deputy.
