Since its creation in Saxony at the end of the 1730's, the masonic order, known in French as "Ordre des Mopses," influenced Female Masonry developing in continental Europe. Apart from the order deriving its name from a dog (mopsus is Latin for pug), its own Masonry traits can be found, notably on flags and tracing boards which bear emblems and symbols specific to the order and their lodges of female masonry.
