The famous English caricaturist, William Hogarth (who became a member of the Freemasons shortly after) presents a depiction of the mysterious Order of the Gormagons, which is the oldest representation of modern Fremasonry and its forerunners. The engraving includes the notable figures of minister Anderson and the Duke of Wharton, the newly deposed Grand Master, who is believed to be the instigator of this gathering.
