Portrait of an Indian Nawab. Illustrated portrait of a bejewelled Indian nobleman, possibly Wajid Ali Shah (1822-1887), the last Nawab of Oudh (Awadh). During the Indian Mutiny and Rebellion (1857-58), Shah was exiled to Calcutta (Kolkata) by the East India Company and was replaced by Sir Henry Lawrence, who became Chief Commissioner of Oudh. Probably North Western Provinces (Uttar Pradesh), India, circa 1857. India, Southern Asia, Asia.
