'Mrs. Thrale', (c1878). Hester Lynch Thrale (born Hester Lynch Salusbury and after her second marriage becoming Hester Lynch Piozzi (1741-1821) was a Welsh-born diarist, author, and patron of the arts. Samuel Johnson often stayed with Hester and her husband, the brewer Henry Thrale, at their house in Streatham, and had his own room above the library.
