Viewing area at the top of the Blackpool Tower, Lancashire, 1999. From the enclosed viewing platform, which is bathed in sunlight, the sea can be seen. The Blackpool Tower was built in 1891-4 by Maxwell & Tuke, modelled on the Eiffel Tower. In the interest of safety, the railings around the viewing area at the top of the Tower, seen here, have been reinforced with netting.
