Generals welcome US soldiers in Germany for the participation in the manoeuvre REFORGER I

US general Howell M. Estes (left) gives a welcome speech for soldiers of the US army during their arrival at the airport in Nuremberg on 20 January 1969. The soldiers participate in the manoeuvre"REFORGER I" - "Return of Forces to Germany". Altogether, around 17.000 soldiers participated in the manoeuvre, many of them were brought from the USA to Germany via air bridge. The equipment of the soldiers has already been in depots in Germany for the most part. One can see: (left-right) Estes, the German general K. W. Thilo, US general lieutenant Donald V. Bennett and US major general James T. McGibony.
