Seen is the Observatory Museum's Clock Tower in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape of South Africa on Tuesday Nov ember 9, 2004. The owner-designer of the Observatory was a watchmaker and jeweller, Henry Carter Galpin, who lived in Grahamstown from 1850 until his death in 1886. Having checked the time by the position of the sun in his observatory, Galpin would set the clock on the tower. In their turn, the people of the town would adjust their clocks and watches to the time on the tower. (Photo by Christine Nesbitt)
